About Correen....
I have been a creative person since as long as I can remember, dabbling in drawing, fine art, calligraphy or whatever the craft trend was at the time. I always gravitated towards sewing the most because I grew up with special hand sewn things that were made just for me and I always loved that feeling. I always like to say I inherited my sewing skills. Both my grandmothers were very talented seamstresses in their own rites. My Gramma Borst was a professional seamstress in the Netherlands who created the most fabulous work I have ever seen. As a little girl, my Gramma Garvey spoiled me with homemade nightgowns, dresses and coats for special occasions and I had the best dressed dolls in the neighborhood. When I was fifteen, I got my first sewing machine for Christmas - a refurbished Singer that had been retired from a home economics classroom. Over the years, I worked that machine to it's death but I taught myself that I could make anything I wanted to - and I could make it exactly as I wanted!
I started Correen's Creative Designs in 2002 as a way to make extra money to supplement my day job in Human Resources. I began doing craft shows with a line of baby items and childrens' novelities that I had been making over the years for my first son, friends and family. I gradually started designing more and more and fell more in love with the craft. I started taking numerous professional courses to hone my skills and went on to start my own website to offer my designs. Eventually, I fell into the niche of creating custom costumes and occasion wear.
In 2004, when our second son was born, my husband and I decided that staying with our boys and working on growing my business from home was a better fit for our family. Since then, we have added a third beautiful little boy to our family and a lot of products and services to my website. I truly feel blessed to be able to exercise my creativity and do what I love to do while watching my babies grow.
I am meticulous about the details, materials and workmanship that go into creating my pieces. Providing a quality garment at a reasonable price that is just the way the customer wants it is my goal. I believe quality, durability and uniqueness are very important. I hope you find my work to be all the above.

I was absolutely ecastatic to be invited to design a costume for Tori Spelling's son Liam to don for an old Hollywood themed Halloween feature. The feature ran in the October 2011 issue of Parenting Magazine: Early Years issue and turned out amazing!! I had an absolute blast designing the Charlie Chalpin Costume and am grateful to have had the opportunity to be included. My son went on to rock the costume for our own photo shoot and the costume was featured in glo.msn magazine a few weeks later (EEEKSS!! SO EXCITING!!!).
